Homekit not working

Why is my Homekit not working at all? At first boot, I couldn't update anything. I disabled IPv6 on my Orbi Mesh network as suggested, which allowed me to update the UI, but since then, nothing works. The status always shows 'Not running,' the homekit gear icon keeps spinning, and updates won’t install. I can search for plugins, but they never fully load. The logs say Homebridge is missing. Could the SD card be corrupted? This was a Christmas gift, and it has never worked. I really need a fix or a replacement
