Erratic behavior with LSP8 controller and SK6812 strip

I got the Athom controller connected to a 5V/10A PSU via the DC barrel jack. I'm using a 5m 60led/m strip with power injection at the end of the strip. Most effects and solid colors work fine at 50% brightness but when I choose solid white, the controller seems to reset and it goes back to default color. Some effects like Candy Cane also have the same issue. I assumed it was a low quality PSU at first but some times, I'm able to get the effects and whites to run without issue. I've set ABL to 8000mA and when I checked estimated usage when Candy Cane was running at full brightness and it was at 8A. and the PSU nor the jack were barely warm to touch. I'm super confused as to what could be causing this issue. Any help would be appreciated.
